“Livorno is offering its partnership for the programme H2020 SC5-20-2019 TOPIC: Transforming historic urban areas and/or cultural landscapes into hubs of entrepreneurship and social and cultural integration.

Livorno is a middle sized city of ca 160.000, not a small village but not yet a large urban concentration with extremely complex issues, is well positioned as a provincial capital and an important sea port in a district containing a high distribution of research and industrial institution of renown world reputation (Uni Pisa, S. Anna, Piaggio - to mention just a few). A place where experimenting new models faces ‘real world’ issues but also may produce worthy results, of possible interest and replicable on a scale applicable to a very high number of European midsized urban concentration. The local government is fully committed to innovation, already on a path toward a ‘smart city’, with ongoing programs like the new technology cluster, the logistic hub, the smart city projects, new facilities for research centers, the ‘Livorno city of opportunities’ policy. An efficient administration machine apt to facing and solving current and unexpected issues in quite acceptable times, and a balanced budget. A location on the central coast of Tuscany: close to an airport well served by many airlines, well connected by main railroads and highways, Livorno is also blessed by a high standard of quality of life as for food, sea shores and countryside of world renown beauty.
